Basic Boozy Chai

Introducing our favorite spiked and spicy bev that has been helping us get through these cold winter months.

(for those dry January do-ers, it’s great without the booze, too!)

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups water

  • 1 ½ cups milk or non-dairy milk

  • 2 black tea bags

  • ½ - 1 teaspoon ground chai masala spice blend

  • 3 ounces whiskey (optional)

  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup

  • whole cinnamon sticks & star anise (optional)

Instructions:

On a stove, bring water and milk to a simmer in your kettle or pot, add tea bags, and remove from the heat. Stir in chai masala spice blend and allow tea bags to steep 10-15 minutes.

Remove tea bags. If you’re adding cinnamon sticks and star anise (flavorful AND cute!), toss them in now, return kettle to heat, and bring to a simmer for a couple minutes to infuse the flavor of the spices. Stir in whiskey and maple syrup, and divide between two mugs. Cheers!
